About the EMU Fat Tyre Folding
The Fat Tyre folder solves a specific problem: a bike that rides like a bike on loose gravel, campsite tracks and towpaths, but still folds small enough to live in the back of a motorhome or a boat. The oversize Kenda tyres do the softening, backed up by a front suspension fork, and the frame is steel, which is why it tips the scales at 26kg.
EMU fit a Bafang rear hub motor with a pedal-assist sensor and a 4in colour display, a 36V 14Ah battery quoted at around 50 miles, Shimano 7-speed gearing and Samonix hydraulic disc brakes. It arrives 98 per cent assembled with the charger, so the last part of the setup is pedals and handlebars.
